Super Bowl! The time when 100 million people are watching the same thing on the TV. What a great country we live in! When everything is suspended and people focus on coming together and eating food, and watching some sports. America.

Anyway, usually football parties scare me because it is all about fried foods! (And believe me do I love fried food!) Everywhere you look there are fried pickles, Velveta dip, and everything made with cream cheese and sour cream. But, all football foods don’t have to be unhealthy!

Kate and I were approached by NTV to make them a healthy football recipe for there series. We made one of my all time favorite recipes. It is so easy and so delicious. You can find the full recipe at the end of the blog.

This recipe is great because it uses all fresh easy to get ingredients. You can add or subtract whichever ingredients you want, but the basic ones are :

  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1 Avocado
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can Shoepeg corn (white corn)
  • cilantro
  • garlic (use the fresh kind)
  • 1 onion
  • juice from half a lime
  • salt, pepper, and paprika or chili powder

We picked up some oven baked Lays and some Beanito Chips, which personally are my favorite. They have 0 carbs and saturated fat. Their are healthy options to make normal “football food.”

Most people won’t even know it is healthy! Remember to use the rule of moderation this weekend for the big game! And remember to spend time with those you love and have fun in the moment, while making health conscious decisions.
