May is right around the corner and so is the warm weather that comes with it.  The month of May is National Bike Month and May 20, 2011 is National Bike to Work Day.  Biking to work is an easy way to get the daily exercise needed for health benefits.

Not only is it healthy but it is much cheaper than nearly $4 or more for a gallon for gas.  Biking will take miles of wear and tear off your car and pounds of pollution out of the environment.

Advantages of biking:

  • Cover more area in less time than walking
  • Low stress on knees and ankles
  • Burns more calories at moderate intensity than walking
  • You become more aware of your surroundings

Physical activity not only helps with fitness but it also increases job productivity and energy levels.  So grab your friends and co-workers and bike to work on May 20, 2011.
